Alias Emma announced by The Bookseller
The Bookseller today announced the acquisition of Alias Emma, an “adrenaline-fuelled, read-in-one-gulp” thriller by Ava Glass.
With rights acquired for the UK and Commonwealth, North America, Germany, Spain, France, the Netherlands and Portugal, the book is set to be an international sensation, with the book also being optioned for film and TV rights by a “renowned” producer.
Alias Emma introduces Emma Makepeace, a young female spy set on a mission to safely bring in a man wanted by the Russians. To get him to safety she needs to cross London overnight, and with the Russians in control of the half a million CCTV cameras across, Emma realises that their journey will need to be unconventional. Making their way via London’s inland waterways as well as underground through London’s hidden Fleet River, Emma’s journey is fast-paced and heart-poundingly exciting.
Madeleine Milburn of the Madeleine Milburn Literary Agency said: “I am thrilled that Century is going to launch Alias Emma, the first in a meticulously plotted, utterly addictive, explosive new female spy series that fans of all things espionage will devour.”
Publisher Selina Walker of Century said: “It is a really, really fun and accomplished read with similarities to 'Killing Eve'. This is escapist fiction at its very best… a female-led thriller which everyone can enjoy.”
